Day 3. Laughter and Music…the best medicine

I struggled today. It’s January. It’s grey. I’m not feeling 100%. How am I blessed?

The answer came in the form of an invite from a dear friend. Both her and her family asked if I would like to join them for dinner and partake in a spot of guitar playing and a sing-along. Well, I don’t play guitar, (or so I thought) but I do love to singĀ  – so it was an offer I couldn’t refuse.

Guitar gigging and giggling

After a hearty meal, the guitars came out. I was handed one, shown 3 basic guitar cords and told to start strumming and singing. It was a speed lesson, I was clueless, but I loved it. Sitting on the sofa wedged between my friend and her dad we began playing Elvis tunes, Country music and even a song from Frozen. It didn’t matter how awful I sounded or the fact I couldn’t keep up – it was silly and it was fun and it lifted my spirits. The perfect pick-me-up! To relieve the neighbours we packed away the guitars and out came the latest Lee Evans DVD. He is wickedly funny and I was crying with laughter throughout his show. Forget pills, today I discovered laughter and music really are the best medicine.
